The National Gallery of Jamaica presents another edition of its Last Sunday Programme. The public is invited to view the recent Natural Histories Exhibition as well as the permanent exhibitions from 11 am - 4pm. The programme for this month will be accompanied by a musical performance by the Nexus Performing Arts Company of Jamaica which will commence at 1:30PM.

Free Studio Space for Artists for KOTE

This year Cafe What's On will be participating in Kingston on the Edge (KOTE), Kingston's urban art festival from 21 June - 29 June, 2013. The festival is a week long celebration of art and artists who live and work in and/or are inspired by the city of Kingston. As part of our cafe programme we are looking for artists interested in making use of our creative warehouse space. We have a selection of small and large studio type spaces with good natural light and ventilation. If you are interested in showcasing your work as part of the festival please contact us.

Caribbean Tales Incubator Programme

The renowned CaribbeanTales Incubator Program, now in its 4th year, was launched in 2010, with the aim of bringing together filmmakers from the Caribbean and its Diaspora, within the context of an international Marketplace setting.

The 3-day incubator program takes place during the Toronto International Film Festival, and takes the form of intensive participatory workshops and sessions that explore craft and market practice from a Caribbean Diaspora perspective, and is led by leading Caribbean and Canadian film practioners.

Künstlerhaus Schloss Balmoral Residential Fellowships for International Visual Artists in Germany

Artists’ residence Künstlerhaus Schloss Balmoral in Bad Ems was founded in 1995 and is a place of reflection, artistic production, discussion and meeting. It supports visual artists from all over the world by awarding a total of six artists-in-residence fellowships.

Kingstoon- Animating Jamaican Creativity

The Government of Jamaica, in collaboration with the World Bank and the Canadian High Commission is launching “Kingstoon – Animating Jamaican Creativity” – a 2 day Animation Conference and  Film Festival to be held in Kingston, Jamaica  on June 20th and 21st 2013. The festival will see the participation of international industry leaders, Jamaican animation companies and operators, national and international potential investors, and policy makers.

The inagural Burt Award for Caribbean Literature opens for entries from publishers on Monday May 13, 2013. Books published between August 1, 2011 and August 22, 2012, written by Caribbean authors are eligible for the Award.

Celebrating VPAJ’s community: Jamaica’s Janet Morrison wins BBC World Service/British Council International Radio Playwriting Competition

"The Fisherman" by Janet Veronica Morrison, from Jamaica, was selected as one of two winning plays in the 23rd International Radio Playwriting Competition run by the BBC World Service and the British Council in partnership with Commonwealth Writers.  Competing with more than 1,000 scripts from around the world, the competition’s judges chose Ms.
