c h a r l b a k e r Caribbean people are expressive, energetic, creative, and ingenious. The vivid colors, flora and fauna of the tropics provide constant inspiration for artists and designers alike. We are in step with the trends and leading some all on our own. We posses an instinctive style, which we express with creative abandon. Born in Canada but raised in Jamaica has influenced my minds eye when it comes to creative expression. Original pursuits of a career in pediatrics were soon sidetracked after migrating to Canada in the late seventies. The lure and passion of visual and performing arts drew me to a world of creativity and design. My newfound desire took various forms and I was exposed to drawing, painting, photography, sewing, acting, dancing and also modeling. Modeling opportunities afforded me exposure in Toronto, U.S.A. Europe and back to Jamaica By the age of fourteen, I co-wrote and acted in a play called “Fourteen”. The story was about 14 fourteen year olds at a sleepover party.
