This Taiwanese film uses the Vincent Van Gogh painting Starry Starry Night as the visual metaphor for the story of teenage Mei who is having a tough time at home with her parents constantly arguing. When Mei meets new student Jay, she recognises in him a kindred spirit and their friendship brightens her world for a short time. A very touching love story told with beautiful photography that shows so well the joy and heartache of a first love that flashes by like a shooting star on a starry night.

(Directed by Tom Lin, 99 minutes, subtitled, 2011)

This will be followed by another film - The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, which starts at 8.45pm
